The paper covering on the inside of the back cover is cracked. There is some yellowing and creasing of the flyleaf and title page. There is a previous owner's label inside the back cover. The hardcover book is in very good condition, with just a couple of dark spots on the back cover, and a handwritten inscription on the inside front cover. THE WELL OF LONELINESS by Radclyffe Hall
Published in 1928, this novel took on the subject of lesbianism, and was found to be obscene by a British court for defending "unnatural practices between women". Quite tame by today's standards, it does hold an important place in the history of the gay rights movement. Some fading to the cover, some tiny black spots on the cover, as seen in the photo.
